Charged coupled devies and Complementary metal oxide semiconductor image sensors are available.
CCD sensors pixels charge is transferred using a single output which is converte to voltage and converted into an image signal. The whole pixel can be used for image capture giving a high quality output.
CMOS sensors pixels have individual charge outputs for voltage conversion. The multi task operation performed by the CMOS pixel reduces the area available for image capture.
