Flat Grinder

The Labgrind has been designed for manual wet grinding of embedded samples. It has a rear compartment in which 4 abrasive paper rolls of different grit, can be loaded. The paper strips are run over 4 adjacent inclined glass plates and clamped at bottom. An eccentric roller is used to tension each paper strip. The edges of the paper strips are covered with a plastic moulding to prevent the paper tearing during grinding. A water inlet tube covers all 4 papers and drips lubricant (usually water) onto them. A drain at the lower end collects the lubricant. The unit has a cast body which gives it stability A range of paper grit sizes is available for a routine grinding protocol. When the strips are worn they can be simply replaced from the rolls.
